The central ideas of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) involve the understanding of the FEELING (emotional) mind, the THINKING (rational) mind and the WISE mind.

To be reflective we need to understand how each of these mindsets effect our relationship with our SELF and others.
Every person is solely responsible for their thoughts, feelings actions and behaviour.
Nobody makes us do, feel or say anything.
Emotions come and go, so therefore cannot be relied upon 100%, but they are important and should never be completely ignored.
Rational thinking will put 'things' into proper perspective, as long as we are not 'ignoring' the facts, or debating issues to ‘be right’ rather than truly understanding someone else’s perspective.
Being rational, but not really caring. All head and no heart!

A wise (balanced) mind is able to reflect on the emotional mind and thoughts as well as apply rational ways of insight and understanding to come to a conclusion and course of helpful action.

We are thinking, feeling imperfect people who require balanced Self-reflection to navigate our life to the best of our ability of where we are right now in our life.
We don’t always get the balance just right, we make mistakes…but the ability to be reflective and change our direction at any time is within us all.
