BE QUIET

Ssssssssh…can you hear that? It’s the sound of silence.

To be quiet with intention, is to want to learn something.

It is about holding ourselves back a little in order to receive something from someone else in the way of information, wisdom, advice, and knowledge.

It is also giving them respect, love, empathy, understanding or compassion and building trust in the relationship.

3 Levels of Listening;

1. Internal listening;

It’s about my thoughts, my judgements, my feelings, my expertise.

2. Focused listening

Hard-wired connection to others with a loss of connection to outside world.

3. Global listening

Soft focus on others, aware of the environment around us and our own intuition. (More connected and natural with people)

Let’s choose to listen more and speak less today.

Let’s begin to BE more interested in what others have to say rather than what we want to say.

As a confident talker and super over-sharer…I have found listening and actively choosing to be connected to what someone is saying… is my NEW fun. That doesn’t mean I don’t share myself, because communication is a two-way street. It just means that I choose to intentionally create 'more space' in conversations to really listen to what someone is saying.

Do I do it perfectly? NO. But, I'm certainly mindful about it and that's a good thing!
